SCHOOL ON THE FARM
OUR Story & PHILOSOPHY
Michael & Josie Gallo, two Ontario Certified Teachers, embarked on an exciting, new chapter in their lives 4 years ago when moving to a 60 acre farm, which is now Campbell's Cross Farm. They knew after having their two children that they wanted to raise them in the country on a property that allowed them to grow and learn with nature and of course lots of outdoor space to run. They decided that they wanted to share this experience with other children and open a small private school on the farm.
Campbell's Cross Farm School is a small, private school of 20 students nestled in and amongst the rolling hills of Caledon. We are currently accepting registrations for September 2022 for children in grades Sk- Grade 5.
Our vision is to create a learning environment where children may freely explore, discover, and use the skills they have acquired to engage in the natural environment in purposeful and authentic ways. At our school, educators will be following the Ministry of Education Ontario curriculum while integrating connections to the outdoors & natural spaces on the farm; large pond, free flowing creek, maple forest, rolling hills, as well as organic gardening, hands on culinary experiences (with Mike himself, a red seal chef). Together with our students, our goal is to co-create a school and learning environment that builds confidence, inner success, along with a deep connection to nature.
Our mission is to work collaboratively with families and their children by creating an inclusive, unique and inspiring learning environment. We do this through a child-centered approach that allows for holistic learning methods focused on the whole child (ex. health, physical well-being, social and emotional development and connections to the natural world around them).
